Program Overview

Agile is a mindset, a way of thinking. This course aims to imbibe that mindset through a realization process that combines lectures with games and group dynamics. It is important for anyone who is looking into managing projects the “Agile way” to master the core values and principles of Agile. Thus, the first day of the training will focus on the Four (4) Agile Core Values; and the 12 Agile Principles enumerated in the Agile Manifesto. The Agile Manifesto, written in 2001, is the foundation of Agile practice and is the basis from which the core values and principles of all other Agile methodologies: Scrum, XP, DSDM, Crystal, etc. are derived from.

Using the “Egg capsule game”, participants will also be introduced to essential Agile concepts such as the core concepts of Value-Driven Delivery (i.e. Minimum Viable Product; iterations and incremental delivery, etc.); adaptive planning; relative estimations using story points and monopoly money, As well as to other basic Agile concepts about timeboxing / iterations / epics and MoSCoW prioritization.

This course is approved by the Project Management Institute (PMI), a Pennsylvania-based Organization of Project Managers. The course covers some of the topics taken-up in the PMI’s Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP©) examination. If participants are seriously considering to practice Agile Project Management, and to sit for the PMI-ACP exam, we encourage them to also enroll in the 2-day “Intermediate Agile Project Management” course which covers more advanced topics in Agile Project Management. PMI is a member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and is therefore the de facto standards development body for the project management profession. It awards the globally recognized, and highly coveted Project Management Professional, PMP© credential. For Agile Professionals, it awards the Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification. SAS Management, Inc. is a PMI Registered Education Provider (REP). This course will award 14 Professional Development Units (PDUs) which can be used to apply for any PMI credential, or to maintain their existing credential.
